Jared Tells Tales
Every week Jared Madsen tells one true-feeling tale: a ghost story from old China, a legend that explains a mountain, a strange history nobody taught you in school. Settle in.
About Jared
Jared Madsen spent years living in China and came home with a notebook full of stories people told him over tea: fox spirits, honest judges, emperors with bad ideas. Jared Tells Tales is where those stories get told properly, one a week, with the history that makes them land.
The channel passed 113 videos and nearly ten thousand subscribers in its first year and a half. The plan now is books, so the best tales can live on a shelf as well as a screen.
More about JaredBooks
The stories from the channel are being collected into books: the same tales, told for the page, with the history and the sources that do not fit in a video. The first one is in the works.
About the booksFrom the blog
Longer writing lives on Substack: behind-the-scenes notes, sources, and stories that need more room than a video gives them. The first posts are on the way.
